Four in ten men clear $100k
The San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont metro has the highest earnings on our list. Median earnings are $79.4k for men and $61.3k for women. 41.8% of men with earnings make $100k or more, nearly double the US's 22.6%, and so do 31.5% of women.
So a $100k filter removes about 6 in 10 men here, against nearly 8 in 10 nationally.
Single men outnumber single women at every age we checked: 118 per 100 at 25–34 and 118 at 35–44, a gap that barely closes with age. For women that means more high earners to choose from. Men face more competition.
Our calculator's "Bay Area" option also includes San Jose, about 6.6 million people, while the Census table on this page covers the San Francisco-Oakland metro alone. For a man aged 28–38, 6′0″ or taller, earning $150k+, it finds about 6,230. Push the income to $200k with a degree, ages 30–40 at 5′10″ and up, and it's about 4,370.
With a list that long and a full calendar, some people here hire a Bay Area matchmaker to run the search for them.
