Why 6 feet is such a big cut
Most men are close to the average of 5′9″. Moving a height requirement up by one inch near the middle removes a modest share, but every inch above 5′11″ removes a much bigger share of the men who are left. That's why "at least 6 feet" keeps about 1 in 7 men, while "at least 5′10″" keeps more than 1 in 3.
Height also varies a little by generation and background: younger men are on average slightly taller than men born in the 1950s, but the difference is under an inch.
How many of them are single?
Height alone tells you very little about your dating pool. By their early thirties more than half of men are married or living with a partner. Among men aged 25 to 35, about 1 in 13 is both single and 6′0″ or taller. Add an income bar of $100,000 and it drops to about 1 in 72.
