Dating Pool Calculator is a small independent project. We build free tools that answer one question with real numbers: how many single people actually meet your standards?
Why we made it
Viral “delusion calculators” made the question popular, but most of them hide where their numbers come from. We wanted a version anyone can check: every filter is tied to a named government or research source, the method is written out in full, and the tool says plainly where it is only an estimate.
The point isn't to shame anyone's standards. It's to show which preferences shrink the pool the most, so you can decide what really matters to you, and where to look.
How it works
We start from the number of men or women at each age from the US Census Bureau American Community Survey, keep the share who are single, then apply each filter (height, income, education, smoking, weight, wanting children) using CDC, Census and Pew data. The calculation runs in your browser. Full details and every source are on the Methodology page.
What we publish
- The dating pool calculator, plus the standards test and the female and male versions;
- data pages such as how many men are over 6 feet and how many men make $100k;
- a plain-English check on whether your standards are too high.
For journalists and researchers
You're welcome to quote our figures with a link to the site. For numbers for a specific city or combination of filters, write to us and we'll send them along with the method.
