$100k is rarer here than anywhere on our list
Miami is the only metro on our list where men's earnings fall clearly below the national line. Median earnings are $46.8k for men and $36.6k for women, against $53k and $39.3k across the US. Just 19.5% of men with earnings make $100k or more, and 10.7% of women. Both are the lowest of the ten metros.
Census earnings leave out retirees and investment income, and South Florida has plenty of both. A man with a six-figure salary is still rarer here than in the other nine metros.
70.9% of men and 63.7% of women aged 25–34 are unmarried, and the metro, which runs from Miami through Fort Lauderdale to West Palm Beach, has 6.2 million residents. Men outnumber women 114 to 100 among unmarried 25–34 year olds.
A man aged 28–38, 6′0″ or taller, earning $100k+ comes to about 5,140, or 1 in 83. Lower the income to $75k and drop the height, and the pool for ages 30–42 grows to about 59,100.
